Variety is reporting that MGM has greenlit the Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard-penned script, "The Cabin in the Woods." It's a thriller that will be Drew Goddard's directorial debut. Very cool for him.
The link to the variety article can be read here. Thanks to Doc Furious for the news.
Joss has been a busy, busy man. With Dr. Horrible set to launch online next week and Dollhouse slated for a January '09 airdate, he's got a lot going on. I'm really looking forward to seeing Goddard's directing debut, as he's always been a favorite writer of mine since his days on Buffy. I normally love the episodes he writes on Lost, and I was a big fan of Cloverfield, so this should be interesting to see.
- Unless I read this wrong a day or so ago, Joss Whedon mentioned that the Dr. Horrible DVD that will be coming out in a few months will have an audio commentary....but not a normal one. It will be a MUSICAL audio commentary. Interesting enough. Not sure how they'll pull that off, but we shall see.
- The Dark Horse MySpace presents comic of "Captain Hammer" is up now....here. Zack Whedon (Joss' brother) wrote it. Captain Hammer is, of course, played by Nathan Fillion (seen to the left dressed like a tool on purpose, I suppose).
- Because of some litigation bullshit, Fox isn't allowing the slay-a-thon people to air Buffy episodes for their Make-A-Wish foundation charity event. They can still show Angel episodes though. Way to go Fox....you are such lovely, lovely people. Assholes. Check out theSlay-A-Thon page here .
- Buffy #16 and Angel: After The Fall #10 are out now. Go read 'em.
This has been quickies. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
You will be able to watch them all for free for the first time at those times, then they will go offline for a bit and you'll be able to download them for a nominal fee. He also says that there will be a DVD....
"We will put the complete short epic out on DVD – with the finest and
bravest extras in all the land. We’ll go into greater detail about that
at Comiccon, but we’re changing the face of Show Friendliness a second
time with that crazy DVD."
Christian Kane turns 34 today. I feel a little bit younger all of a sudden.
When he's not playing country pop songs in your local auditorium, Mr. Kane takes time out from twanging his guitar and singing about his dog dying to act in television and movies every so often. One character he played was evil-lawyer-with-a-conflicted soul, Lindsey McDonald on Angel.
Lindsey came from nothing. His family was poor and he had to share an outhouse with 27 syblings.....if you listen to him tell it, that's almost accurate. So Lindsey worked hard and climbed the corporate ladder to success with law firm to the evil and psychotic, Wolfram & Hart. In the time he was on the show, Lindsey had a lot of memorable moments. Let's take a look at just a few of them...
Ever think to yourself, "How could I become a myspace friend of a fictional character created by the Whedon brothers?" Well, here's your chance! "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" now has an official myspace page.
Normally, this would be where I make fun of everybody for joining, but I myself have joined the myspace bonanza....so I have no room to talk.
You can check out the page by clicking here. Remember to check out the teaser trailer in the last post.
Dr. Horrible stars Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion. According to the myspace page and the trailer, it's coming to a computer near you.
Finally, a teaser from Joss Whedon and Bros.' "Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog"! It looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. Dr. Horrible stars Neil Patrick Harris, Felicia Day and Nathan Fillion. Check it out below.
HMC proudly presents to you "Before They Were Jossverse" ... a timeless journey backward into the lives and careers of those many talented people who have been a part of the Mutant Enemy machine. For this first installment, we take a glance into the early career of J. August Richards.
Before he was the muscle behind Angel Investigations, Richards made his television debut in 1988 on the popular sitcom program "The Cosby Show."
Ah, San Diego Comic Con. A yearly event to give us geeks an excuse to dress up like Klingons and some friggin' manga characters. It's fun and pathetic all at the same time. This year's con is shaping up to be as big, if not bigger than last year's event.
There's a rumor going around that there will be a Dollhouse panel at the con. That makes sense. Whether or not Joss Whedon (shown to the left, wearing a beautiful, beautiful baseball cap) will show up for it is anyone's guess at this point. No one knows if any cast members have been signed on to do it so far. If I were Eliza Dushku I'd avoid it if she doesn't like being asked by some guy with a very bad case of acne if he can get a hug.
The panel will supposedly be on Saturday, July 26th. The time has not been confirmed. Again, this is just a rumor at this point. I guess it doesn't really matter though, considering if you don't already have a pass for that Saturday chances are you aren't getting in, because it's apparently already sold out.
So let's break this down: Rumor about Dollhouse panel - check. Joss & cast not signed on for it yet - check. No time given yet - check. Saturday already sold out - check. Warn Eliza of crazy fans that want to hug her - check. I think I've covered everything.
