The Hollywood Reporter is....uh...reporting...that Morena Baccarin has been cast in a new ABC pilot called, "Five Year Plan", created by Dave Hemingson (How I Met Your Mother, Kitchen Confidential). Here's how HR describes the premise...
The Hemingson project, from 20th TV, is an ensemble about a law
school grad (Matt Long) from a blue-collar background who joins a
Los Angeles boutique law firm. Baccarin ("Heartland") will play
another new associate at the firm, a scrupulous Beverly Hills born
A comedy involving lawyers? Shouldn't the show be called "Life"? It might be good. Hemingson doesn't make too many bad shows, and I could see something like a Scrubs-in-a-law-firm type of series.
The article also mentions Nathan Fillion's new pilot, "Castle". Nothing really new to report on it except that Ruben Santiago-Hudson has joined the cast. I could barely find anything on this show, except that I hear Nathan plays a mystery writer who helps the NYPD solve crimes. I'm guessing Fridays and an 8-episode run, but that's just me talking.
What do you think about Morena's show? What about Nathan's?
The Hollywood Reporter website mentioned in a piece this morning, "Fox's other high-profile new entry, Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse," which is still in production, is eyed for midseason." According to them, the network's upfronts for fall suggest there's no real spot for the show until mid-season.
Some folks on the other Whedon-related sites are saying that this could really hurt the show, but I think it might be the best situation for it.
For starters, many of the most loved and religiously followed television shows started as mid-season replacements....including Buffy in 1997. We all know how that one turned out.
The point is this means nothing, except it gives Joss and his staff the time to put together the show and actually have more of a build-up than what it has even now. It allows for 3-4 extra months of viral marketing and word-of-mouth. It also allows FOX the time to figure out a way to market it better than they usually do (Anyone remember...Firefly: cowboys in space?).
So I guess the question is, would you prefer having the show air as soon as possible; or would you rather give it the best possible time slot and marketing behind it so that it lasts?
*Editor's Note: Dollverse.com is now reporting that the Hollywood Reporter article is wrong, and that the airdate will be confirmed on May 15th. They say it's still up for a Fall timeslot.
I was just surfing through eBay today and I found something interesting that I didn't know existed until now...
To your left is a Veronica Mars season 2 trading card with a piece of the cloth from Joss Whedon's shirt that he wore in the episode he was in as "Douglas".
I am dead serious.
That triangle beside him? Apparently that's part of the shirt. You can rub it and make a wish or something....I have no idea. What I do know, however, is that someone is trying to sell one of these for $18.95 as a starting bid on eBay.
I have an undying love for Whedon as much as the next completely heterosexual gentleman, but come on now. If Joss himself saw this, he would have to laugh at the sheer fandom craziness of it all. I have some Buffy/Angel/Firefly memorabilia just like every big fan of those shows, but I can't see how anyone could justify purchasing something like this.
Who could you possibly show it to that would think it was cool or....you know.....sane to own? Sure, if you got it for a couple bucks or free, I could see owning it just for a fun little laugh and all. But $20? REALLY, guy? I love eBay.
Vincent Kartheiser (Connor - Angel) turned 29 today. While we at HMC congratulate him on this crowning achievement in not yet dying from an overdose or a motorcycle accident, we look back at the good times he gave us. Here are the top 5 Connor moments! Let's count 'em down...
#5 - CONNOR BURIES ANGEL UNDER WATER (Tomorrow - Ep. 3.22)
Who didn't think about doing this to their old man once or twice? I know I did....and dad if you can hear me, I'm sorry I forgot you that one time. Rest in peace.
Connor was all tricky and shit when he made Angel believe he wanted to be a dynamic duo, but behind it all was a kid who thought Angel had killed his step-father Holtz. The only real problem is that no one is that stupid, not even Connor. He should've and I think DID know that Holtz made it look like Angel killed him. He just wanted an excuse for killing his dad. Ah, the wonder years.
How did Fox know that my mom wanted a high-def version of Firefly? THOSE MIND READERS!
Firefly comes to Blu-Ray for the completely unreasonable price of $62.95 (and that's the cheapest you'll find it - that's from Amazon). If my sales pitch got you all excited, you can pre-order it now. I'm a regular Dwight Schrute over here.
Please give 20th Century Fox more of your money as you tell them, "it's okay that you cancelled my show after only 12 episodes, I'll still buy every version of it on all forms of media and give you more money for that prostitute you wanted last week. It's not like the original DVD version is good enough or anything."
I didn't see an actual release date on this item. Don't worry though, it'll be all over the place soon enough.
If you are any sort of fan of Buffy, you know the ol' girl hasn't had the best track record with the males. One could draw the conclusion that it's all her fault due to her decisions, but let's not jump down her throat just yet. Let's take a look at the boys that she chose and what happened to end those relationships.
#1 - ANGEL
That nasty Irish bugger Liam rampaged half the entire world until he
gained a pesky soul that he didn't want when those damn gypsies snuck
one in him. After that he was all puppies and fairy tales....and I
guess he wanted that fairy tale with the girl who was supposed to be
his arch-nemesis....the slayer herself. It would be a beautiful story
if he wasn't an over 250 year old creature of evil and she
To say this one didn't end well would be about as silly as me saying
John McCain is young and energetic. It's just not going to fly. You all
know the story -- they had sex, he went evil, Buffy killed him, he came
back, they got back together, then he left for Los Angeles because he
felt he couldn't give her a "normal life". Good thing he left, 'cause
she REALLY had a normal life afterwards.
PROS: He could get you rascals some beer. Likes those moving pictures.
CONS: Besides being a gigantic pedo? No, I think that one is a big enough con.

As you can tell by this cover, someone likes Buffy the Vampire Slayer in what is supposed to be Tokyo. Afterall, they have a sign up in front of their shop and everything.
Here's the solicitation for Buffy #14 (It may be spoilerish for those who don't read fast enough. It's not like you had a whole f'ing month to read it or anything).....
The Scoobies' mysterious new foes have obtained a powerful instrument
that may destroy everything that Buffy has worked so hard to build.
Acclaimed screenwriter, Drew Goddard (Lost, Cloverfield) continues his fun-filled romp through Tokyo with Wolves at the Gate part 3.
The critically acclaimed Buffy Season Eight continues with Joss Whedon as executive producer, with Georges Jeanty (The American Way) as series artist, and Jon Foster on covers.
As you can see in the 2nd page, someone needs some sleep. Look at those bloodshot eyes....she could be smoking the funky green. In the 3rd page, Buffy looks more like Sarah Jessica Parker than Sarah Michelle Gellar -- not to knock Georges or anything. Lastly, in the 4th page, Buffy seems to be carrying a mummy. I'm probably wrong about most of this.
Yes, that's right. We're back....or at least I am. We'll have to see who tags along, if anyone. But for now, your tour guide through hell has finally made his prodigal return to HMC. Wash my feet, throw me a party and tell my good brother to get bent, cause The Poobah is back and he wants some lamb stew.
What's been happening since our absence?
Well, there was a writer's strike. That apparently didn't go exactly the way everyone involved wanted, but then again it rarely does.
Let's not forget that we're now counting down to "Dollhouse" - created by Joss and starring Eliza Dushku (and now co-starring Amy Acker). I'm still not entirely 100% behind the concept, but it's Whedon so of course I'll try to be more optimistic.
As I progressively beg others to join in the write-y goodness, we should be covering quite a bit of Dollhouse and everything else the other Whedon-actors and writers are doing. We won't be up-to-date news-like.....I think that's pushing it. You want that sort of stuff, Whedonesque is somewhere around that way. You can't tell, but I'm pointing in one direction.
What else happened? Sarah Michelle Gellar was in some silly Richard Kelly movie. Marsters did some more Smallville and then some brit show called Torchwood (which I have not even come close to seeing nor particularly care to). Boreanaz is still on Bones. That thing still running? Lost money there. Drew Goddard wrote a monster movie that actually made me jump (Cloverfield), so congrats to him. Other stuff happened that no one should care about.
It's good to be back. I hope you all enjoy the fabulous new FORUMS that you need to register for in order to use. Keep coming back here to check out the cool stuff (not to mention older stuff that we will be archiving very soon).
