Bring On The Night: The Rant
Warning: Spoilerish to the amount of 10.
– SMG, SMG, SMG. Just when people start the rumormill that you’re acting bored and don’t care anymore, you churn out a performance like this. The last two minutes alone are emmy worthy. Give the woman a statue now.
– Not too impressed by the SITs (Slayers-In-Training) yet. Well, maybe I’ll start enjoying them as their characters grow.
– One character that won’t grow is AnnaBelle. Why in the blue hell did she run out of the house? One minute she was the most confident of the newbies, the next minute she was running for her life. Did she see something at some point and start to run away, or is this just a plot hole?
– Has anyone else noticed that Marti Noxon always writes Xander more nerdy than the other writers do? It’s a tad irritating. A little off on character development, if you ask me. Not that I don’t love Marti, because I do.
– The special effects AND fight scenes (mostly the awesome one between Buffy and the UberVamp) were outstanding. Maybe the most impressive stuff from Almost Human and the stunt guys all year. Terrific.
– I have a feeling Principal Wood is a good guy. That’s just my unspoiled opinion.
– People keep thinking Giles is the First. Now I may be naive, but I don’t think so. I think its ME’s “let’s swerve ’em good and proper” strategy. It’s just too easy to say, “Giles got the axe, and he’s dead. So now it’s the First in Giles form.” Does anybody remember “Ripper The Series”? It’s still being worked out…just put on hold. So you would think the character would not die. Unless he’s a ghost, I guess. Too many questions left unanswered.
– I love seeing Juliet Landau back in the mix. No matter what some people say, Dru rocks in my book.
– “Showtime” is supposed to be even better. I’m really loving this season.
Final Verdict: Wow. It had everything again. I haven’t felt this good about the series in 2 years. It doesn’t seem to want to slow down either. The UberVamp is wicked powerful, Buffy is wicked in trouble. But it’s time to essemble the troops. The most powerful wicca in the western hemisphere, the gallant white knight of the slayer, the watcher, the potential slayers, the key, the ex-demon…but they also need the souled vamp to defeat this impending doom. They must save Spike. GOD, THIS IS GOOD. Who thought this crap up? Because I feel like I’m going to middle-earth almost every Tuesday. Who needs Tolkien with this stuff? Can’t wait until the 7th when we get the new episode.
Rating: 3 1/2 STAKES (everything was great, but a bit ‘iffy’ on the SITs, so it’s a half stake down).
Rant Over.
