Bottom to Top: The Angel Episode Countdown: 012

by Matt -10.21.04

And we continue the countdown…

Wow…you’re still here?

#65 - Belonging [episode 2.19]

There’s certainly nothing wrong with Cordelia in a bikini. Nothing at all. Nothing….at all…. Sorry, where was I? Oh right, this is a good stepping stone episode to the Pylea trilogy, there’s really nothing wrong with it. It’s just one of those “getting to the ending arc” episodes. Plus, bikini… bikini.

#64 - Loyalty [episode 3.15]

You know, it’s funny how Fred and Gunn can kill a bunch of vamps like they’re Buffy or something. I don’t recall them getting slayer strength. Meanwhile, we see Wes thinking Angel is going to kill his newborn son at any moment, and as we know, nervous posturing is just so much fun.

#63 - Dear Boy [episode 2.5]

Now I’m sure some will disagree with me on this one, but here’s the thing. Season 2 of Angel was rife with episodes that involved Angel & Darla flashbacks. Some less needed than others. “Dear Boy” has a couple of them. It also has Kate being bitchy again, and we all know how much I love that. We also get Angel going a tad insane because Darla is “haunting” him. Angel + insane = good stuff. So I can’t hate too much.

#62 - First Impressions [episode 2.3]

The Cordelia and Gunn stuff in this episode is great, I’ll grant you that. The plot itself was rather ‘blah’, but Cordy being all protective of Gunn has an endearing quality to it, and this is the one where we kind of figure out we’re going to be seeing young Charles every week. Which ain’t too bad, because I’m not a Gunn-hater…except for Season 4; he was boring.

#61 - Inside Out [episode 4.17]

The whole explanation by Skip of what’s happened the past 4 years to get to now is kind of thrown together, or at least it feels that way. They tried to make this Jasmine story make sense, even though I think Joss and Tim were high at the time when they decided, “Let’s bring Cordy back, have her sleep with Connor, go evil, have Connor’s baby who turns out to be this God-like demon.” I mean, it’s like a supernatural soap opera. If there weren’t demons and vampires in it, it would be called Days of Our Lives. I guess this episode makes me realize why I didn’t much care for Season 4.

Parts -> [9]   [8]   [7]   [6]   [5]   [4] [3]   [2] [1] Check back for the next 5…coming soon!

G Thing: Blondie Bear, I agree with you. I also want to know when “The Shroud of Rahmon” will show up, which I thought was even more disappointing. You would never see me rank those two episodes above “The Trial”, “The Quickening”, or “Benediction”. (23.10.2004, 12:33)

Blondie Bear: Where in the hell is “Why We Fight” on the list, it’s the worst ep. I’v ever seen (21.10.2004, 18:48)

Astonishing Tony: What I wanna know is, where the hell is A New World? Even if it’s the very next one, it’s waaaaay too high on the list. Absolutely worst episode of the entire Jossverse IMO. (21.10.2004, 13:10)

Lor: Applause. (21.10.2004, 12:23)

Becca: OK, now we’re starting to diverge on choices here. Loyalty is one of the best episodes ever. Wes was the best thing about this one. It was a pivatol episode in the whole series. And I can’t spell pivatol. But I love that you’re doing this. (21.10.2004, 12:06)
