Emma Caulfield Ford
Indie film leads, guest roles across network TV, and a return to Westview in WandaVision and Agatha All Along.
After the show
Caulfield Ford’s first post-Buffy lead was the horror film Darkness Falls (2003). The following year she produced and starred in Bandwagon (2004), a satire written and directed by Karri Bowman in which she played a fictionalized version of herself, and she guest-starred on Monk.
In 2009 she led the indie romantic comedy TiMER. Television work followed: a recurring role as Emma Bradshaw on The CW’s Life Unexpected (2010 to 2011), the Blind Witch on ABC’s Once Upon a Time (2012 and 2016), and appearances on Supergirl (as Cameron Chase) and Fear the Walking Dead (2016 to 2017).
In 2021 she joined Marvel’s WandaVision on Disney+ as Westview resident Dottie, revealed as Sarah Proctor, across four episodes. In 2022 she appeared as Fran in the film I’m Charlie Walker.
In February 2021, after Charisma Carpenter’s statement about Joss Whedon, Caulfield Ford shared Sarah Michelle Gellar’s statement on Instagram with the caption “In the wise words of my friend @sarahmgellar.” Gellar’s statement read in part, “I don’t want to be forever associated with the name Joss Whedon.”
Lately
In October 2023 Caulfield Ford returned to Anya for Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, a nine-episode Audible original written and directed by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden, with James Marsters, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau and Danny Strong. In February 2024 Golden said Disney, which controls the Buffy license through 20th Century Studios, would not allow Audible to make further seasons.
In 2024 she reprised Sarah Proctor in Marvel’s Agatha All Along on Disney+.
Off screen
In an October 2022 Vanity Fair interview, Caulfield Ford disclosed that she had been living with multiple sclerosis since 2010 and had kept it private while working. She told the magazine she was “so tired of not being honest” and wanted to advocate for more research. She married Mark Leslie Ford in 2017 and has a daughter.
