E!News Live Visits Angel Set: Transcript (Part 1)

KRISTIN: I’m on the set of Angel which is one of my favorite shows.

DB: Oh yeah, what happened last week?

JM walks up behind him and puts his hand on DB’s shoulder.

KRISTIN: I don’t think we have enough time to get into all those
details.

DB and JM look at each other and laugh.

DB throws his arm around JM’s shoulder and pulls him (buddy-like)
close.

DB: The big thing is that Spike is back.

KRISTIN: Spike is back and this is Spike right here.

DB: He’s back in Angel’s universe.

JM: Making trouble.

DB: Very excited that we have him back (His arm is still over JM’s
shoulders) Tonight’s episode is the end of a 2 parter where we see
him come back. And things are going to get real crazy.

JM laughs.

KRISTIN: Things are already getting crazy. When we walked in there
were Ninjas flying everywhere.

DB: We’re setting up a stunt right now.

DB points out the stuntmen and then introduces “Sparky” (who I
gather is the stunt coordinator) and both he and JM start teasing
him. DB seems to tickle the guy.

JM starts to move away and Kristin grabs him and pulls him in.

KRISTIN: This is a whole new set. I mean, this is insane.

JM: Yeah, isn’t it.

KRISTIN: When I came here last season you guys had two soundstages.
Now you have FOUR. And it’s so much bigger (and glancing at DB) and
I’m sorry, it’s much more impressive.

DB: Well if you get 2 soundstages–

KRISTIN doesn’t stop talking to let DB finish his sentence.

KRISTIN: It’s like the Jeffersons. You’re moving up.

JM: You could fit all of Sunnydale on this one set.

DB: If you get two soundstages they give you two extra ones. It’s
a deal with Paramount.

KRISTIN: Really? A two for one deal.

DB: Yeah. A two for one.

JM: The last 5 years… (can’t hear the rest of it)

DB: We’re kind of in the middle of the main lobby. These are the
two elevators. My office is back there. But this is the main hub of
the evil Wolfram and Hart offices

JM is off to the side laughing.

DB: As you can see there’s a lot of activity going on right now.
(He introduces the director and says he’s setting up a shot (and
shows the director’s socks to the camera )

He introduces one of the stunt guys

DB: He’s one of the Ninjas.

STUNTGUY: BUt I don’t have nice socks.

DB: And there’s J over here. (DB walks over to JAR. Pats JAR on
the shoulder. JAR takes his hand). He’s getting ready to do some
backflips.

KRISTIN: You’ve got a stunt?

JAR: Yeah we’re setting up. I get to kick him off the top (he’s
pointing to the stunt guy) and he goes flying.

KRISTIN: Do you ever get hurt doing these stunts?

JAR: I never get hurt but these guys (pointing to the stuntmen) get
a little hurt.

KRISTIN: Now you guys are on Wed. night still. With Smallville
after you.

DB: No before us

KRISTIN: Yeah, before you. Actually last week was an amazing week
for you guys. You had like 5 million viewers. That’s very cool.

DB: Yeah we did really well. We’re excited. It’s a good lead-in for
us.

KRISTIN: How does the season feel? (She’s talking to JAR)

DB (Laughing) How does it *feel* J?

JAR: (laughs and reaches for JM and pulls him into frame again)

JM: Oh it feels good.

KRISTIN: Doesn’t it feel good? A whole new direction.

JAR says something I can’t hear.

DB: Doesn’t it feel good to… (can’t hear the rest)

JM laughs. Then straightens up really quickly.

JM: No, seriously.

DB: It feels real good.

KRISTIN: This has to be a big change for you coming from Buffy, and
yet you’ve worked with David over here before.

JM: This is a guy’s set.

JAR nods very, VERY visibly. JM is a LOT shorter than JAR.

JM: It’s a guy’s set. I like that.

KRISTIN: Did he give you any tips when you joined the show?

DB: You’re going to get me in trouble.

JM: No, I’m not going to get you in trouble. You were a total
gentleman, dude. (Cut to a scene from Just Rewards with Angel
fighting the Groxlar) Oh, anyway… what?

KRISTIN: Did he give you any tips?

JM: Did you?

DB: Nah.

JM: Yeah you did as a matter of fact. I was doing that one episode
that was all heavy and I came to you all trashed and I came to you
and how do you do it, man. Week after week being the lead… And
you’re like ‘horseracing.’ And I was like (confused look) oh yeah,
okay. . .what?

JAR laughs.

DB: Your racehorse just continues to go straight down… and there
is Ross Barrymore, he just became an United States Citizen. He’s
our DP … (and he introduces some more of the crew)

KRISTIN: And we’ll be back. Hopefully won’t get hit by any more
Ninja’s
