Poll Me -

Last week we asked, “Over the years, which Angel/Buffy character changed the most?” The results…

Wesley - 45.3%
Spike - 19.4%
Cordelia - 14.9%
Willow -12.2%

Total votes: 572

Everyone else was below 5%. Wes wins big here, with William the Bloody in a way distant second. Cordy and Willow battled for third. Let’s see what you had to say…

“Cordelia. She went from bitchiest of the bitches, to one of the Scoobies, back to being a bitch. Then she came to L.A., was basically the Cordelia we all knew, gets the visions and deals with those for a while. Then she learns to love the visions and treasure them . . . causing her to decide to become part demon to keep them. Then she’s a higher power. Then she’s amnesiac. Then she’s the evilest of the evil. Finally, she goes into a coma, fixes her guy, and dies . . . that’s a lot a changin.”

“Who the hell voted SPIKE? COME ON!!!! That’s insane, he was ALWAYS a lovesick pansy!! No change THERE!!! PSHAW!! *muttering about Spuffy dorks* Wesley had 100% personality change CASE CLOSED!”

  • Nora

“Wes wins hands down, just look at him. The first time we saw him he was green behind the ears and scared to death of a vampire. Then he went through all these changes and made deals with the devil and things like that. Finally, when Fred died he gutted Gunn like a fish and killed Knox. Could anyone have believed that the S3 Wes from Buffy could become a cold-blooded killer? I think not. Spike would be next what with the soul having and stuff. Then I would have to say Willow for basically the same reasons as Wes. She went from being a nerdy bookworm to a psycho who skinned Warren alive and tried to destroy the earth. Need I say more. Actually I think that Willow and Spike should both be second.”

Matt: The password is ‘pithy’.

“I picked the Wes man of course. He went from a big ol’ snobby know it all and quivering coward to a fearless hero, who sometimes committed murder or attempted murder. Which reminds me, how come you don’t have Faith on the list? You slipped again Poobah. Tsk tsk.”

Matt: Yeah, but you must come to expect it from me that I’ll forget someone every week.

“IMO - From Wesley’s first appearance on Buffy to his last appearance on Angel was like 2 different characters. From shy/quite/unsure of himself/babyface to dark/tormented/all he’d seen and survived/aged beyond his years was a very good journey for me.”

“I’m going to say that Cordelia changed the most. I mean she went from being someone who only cared about herself to being someone willing to give it all up for someone else.”

  • Gabriel

“I’d have to say Anya. First she was an immortal demon who was pretty unattractive in demon form. Then she turned human and fell for Xander. When he left her at the altar, she didn’t wreak vengeance on him, although she thought about it. Then in the last season she was sliced in half. I’d say those are some pretty big changes.”

Matt: What a clever, clever name.

“Going with Wesley…. In my mind no one can ever top his evolution, the only one close is Willow. Wesley changed from episode to epsiode it was truly one of the best roles in the BTVS verse. Wesley just rocks. Thanks to Alexis for taking it to the extra level, if he hadn’t, we probably wouldn’t have seen Wes go as far as he did.”

  • Aeryn

“Xander. He went from core scooby gang member and main character to non-existant background guy.”

  • Fat Tony

Matt: Spoken like a true D.O.W.K. Or D.O.R.K….whichever.

“Hmmmm. . . . this was a quasi-tough poll. It was a close contest between Spike and Wesley. I ultimately chose Wes because Spike’s change was mostly because of his soul. Wes’s journey and change, on the other hand, was because of life events. I mean, can you really get your throat cut, nearly die of exposure, then the vamp with a soul who is your friend and co-worker tries to smother you and *not* change??!!”
