Covering Seasons 1 and 2, this is the first official companion to “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” It features bios of just about everyone - the characters, monsters, cast and crew – on or off the set, sixteen pages of color photos, and a list of the songs heard in the episodes. Packed with quotes, this book will walk you through the basic lore of vampires and slayers, as well as the trials and tribulations of relationships in Sunnydale. Unfortunately, it is not as useful a source when it comes to episode material other than your basic “who wrote it, who directed it, who was in it, when did it air” stuff. While the “little known facts” and other tidbits are interesting, the basic plot of each episode is spotty; too much information to be a teaser, but not enough to give the reader a clear picture of what happened. Still, for a behind the scenes look at everything post-production, it can’t be beat.
