Vincent Kartheiser
Eight years as ad man Pete Campbell on Mad Men, followed by Das Boot, Titans and independent film work.
After the show
Kartheiser joined Angel in its third season as Connor, the son of Angel and Darla, raised in a hell dimension, and stayed through the fourth season and a return in the fifth.
In 2007 he was cast as Pete Campbell, the ambitious junior account executive at Sterling Cooper, on AMC’s Mad Men. He played the role for all seven seasons and 87 episodes through 2015, and shared in the cast’s Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding ensemble in a drama series.
During and after Mad Men he took film and television roles on both sides of the Atlantic. He played Fielding Goodney in the BBC’s two-part adaptation of Martin Amis’s Money (2010), appeared in Andrew Niccol’s science-fiction thriller In Time (2011) as the father of Amanda Seyfried’s character, and voiced a character in the animated Rango (2011). He played Samuel Greenwood in 10 episodes of the German-British series Das Boot (2018 to 2020).
In 2021 he played Dr. Jonathan Crane, the Scarecrow, in season three of HBO Max’s Titans. That August, Deadline reported that Warner Bros. Television had investigated two complaints about his on-set behavior, described as disruptive, juvenile conduct and inappropriate comments, and had assigned a representative to monitor the set; a spokesperson said Kartheiser “vehemently denies” the allegations and had agreed to comply with the studio’s directives.
Lately
Kartheiser is part of the cast of Green River Killer, a true-crime thriller starring David Arquette and Nick Stahl about the hunt for the serial killer who terrorized Washington state. The film was reported in 2025 to have wrapped production in Washington and Idaho; a release date has not been announced.
Off screen
Kartheiser married his Mad Men co-star Alexis Bledel in 2014. They separated, and their divorce was finalized in 2022.
