Update: December 20, 2005
We wanted more Buffy, but this is just ridiculous.
**Serenity Now…
**Serenity is now out. I was trying to get my local department store to sell me one at 10 PM the night before it released but they wouldn’t. So, all I can say is that I’ve seen the movie. It was cool. Except for that last bit. With one of the characters. Who has something happen to them. I’m not spoilery, just a little bitter. Get the movie anyways. We may still get more Firefly (a la the Sci Fi channel), at least I’m hoping.
Fiatlux has better thoughts in her review of Serenity. Check it here.
Check out Comcast’s EXCELLENT interview with Joss about Firefly and Serenity here.
Cinematical also lists Serenity in its list of 7 Sci-Fi movies for people who don’t like Sci Fi and posits it as being a “What If?” tale. Never really thought of it that way, but now that I think about it, maybe it’s a reason that I’ve always liked the show so much.
At Dragon*Con 2004, the crowd was made privy to a “bird-flipping” contest between Jewel Staite and Nathan Fillion during the filming of Firefly and Serenity. Writer Peter David let the crowd know that Nathan was ahead in flipping Jewel off while he was off camera. Now, you can read the full saga and where the score stands along with some very funny stories at Flipping the Bird: The Jewel and Nathan Score Keeper Site.
In the “whu?” category for today, a new object has been found in the solar system and named oddly “Buffy”. Its orbit is completely contrary to the rest of the objects in the solar system. And, once every cycle, it gets erratic and somewhat weepy. To add to the mystery, in the sixth year of its cycle it slows down dramatically and seeks out a blonde star. Odd, yet strangely familiar.
In another addition to their already unique amazing line-up, the Sci-Fi channel (hey, how many mentions does it take to get you guys to make more Firefly for us) has added Spike’s favorite soap “Passions”.
With a mention of the Spike movie, Dose TV also talks about James Marsters’ new pilot he is shopping. It sounds pretty cool and very superhero like. It involves chains and razors!
In Toy News, Diamond Select is now offering the San Diego Comicon unpainted Jayne from Serenity action here. And they are showing their new variant bloody Reaver action figure (available to the first 1000 people to register for the New York Comic Con). Finally, check out the Summer 2006 variant figures – Xander and Cordelia – here. We get Princess Cordy, Ice Cream & Vamp Xanders plus more. Too cool.

Finally, Speaking of good stuff, Angel: Old Friends issue one is out. We find out that at least three of Angel’s crew survived “Not Fade Away”. The first issue’s been a good read, folks.
