On Thin Ice for the New Year.
Yeah, so I thought I would point out that Kristy Swanson, the original Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, is strapping on some ice skates and getting in the rink for Skating with Celebrities. I’ve seen almost all of her catalog, except for Flowers in the Attic, because, well it’s just creepy. So love me some Swanson and all, but wow, skating with celebrities?
Musing on the ‘verse, I also wanted to note that I’ve been watching through the seasons of Buffy with some friends who’ve never seen the show. We just finished Graduation Day, Part II, this weekend, and it’s been a blast to see them experience everything for the first time. Now, we’re deciding if we want to go Angel, Season 1 or Buffy, Season 4. If you want to get a fresh kick out of the show, invite a friend over and watch your favorites.
First up is an interview with Joss reflecting back on his shows. Check it out here.
Sci Fi Wire is also running an interview with Loni Peristere, who is claiming that the sales for the Serenity DVD are doing so well that a sequel may still happen. Surprisingly (and yet given the Browncoats, not so surprisingly), the sales of Serenity appear to be running neck-in-neck with Wedding Crashers. I’ve never seen any of the five copies in my local rental store available for rent, either. Click here for more, and let’s keep hoping.
For current sales rankings of Serenity, you can go to Video Business here. As of last week, it was number one on Amazon.
Sci Fi Wire is running a vote for the next Whedon project fans want to see. As of this writing, a Serenity sequel and Spike are running neck in neck. Click here to vote.
Angel: Old Friends #2 is on the stands this week, so check it out. I’ve been enjoying IDW’s books a lot.
On the toy front, you’d never know that there wasn’t a current Buffyverse show out. Diamond Select is releasing their final puppet in the Angel puppet line – Vampire Angel. Check out the coolness here.
And coming Summer 2006, action figures from the “Destiny” episode of Angel for both Angel and Spike will be released. Click here for early details.
Enjoying quiet day in the ‘verse,
