A Shiny New Year to Everyone!

First up for 2006, I have to stop and give props to this week’s Arrested Development. For a show that is being unjustly cancelled (think Firefly and Angel), they are having a blast with it. This week’s episode just made me stand up and applaud for their “desperate” actions.

Now to the ‘verse….

I’ve had a chance to watch the Serenity DVD several times. So good, yet so little. We got a lot for how the movie did and I’m glad of it. I really, really wished that there had been more, though. I guess that’s the way it will always be. I still hold a glimmer of hope that the Sci-Fi channel will pick it up, but I’m at peace with the way it would end if Serenity were it. I still want more though…

In case you haven’t found it, there’s an excellent Easter Egg on the disc titled “We’ll have a Fruity Oaty Good Time.” Go the Play button and hit left on your player. You’ll see a button get highlighted. Press it and check out the commercial that made River flip. If you don’t beat the crap out of someone as a result, well, you’re just not human. And, it will leave you wondering what exactly an octopus does in a bra.

And for good measure, here’s a link to an article about the Browncoats.

If you haven’t read it, Joss does a guest writing stint for TV Guide looking at what is to come for television. It’s freakin hilarious and he says snarkier. A word I dearly love. Click Here.

Since we didn’t have a chance to do it earlier, we wanted to pass condolences to friends and family during the passing of Vincent Schiavelli, who played Jenny Calendar’s uncle on Buffy as well as a host of other great characters in his career. He passed away at age 57 from lung cancer.

From Britain, word comes from a poll that says Buffy is the second-most missed show (sitting between Star Trek and Friends). Click here for more details.

The Globe and Mail is predicting that 2006 will be a breakout year for SMG with five films on her plate. Yeah, isn’t one of them for a few seconds? Click Here.

Finally, I want to recommend to all news reporters and online mag article scribes, if you’ve never seen an episode of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, would you please resolve to make 2006 the year you quit embarrassing yourself by attempting to make lame references to it in your articles? You’re doing nothing but making a baboon out of yourself. Really. Stop it.

Seth Green’s new comedy “Four Kings” starts this Thursday night at 8:30 PM EST (right before My Name is Earl and The Office – American version, which are probably the two funniest things NBC has done in years). Click Here.

Alyson Hannigan will be donning a fat suit for her next movie. Alyson Fans has some great pics from the trailer. Click Here.
