Mercedes McNab

Scream-queen lead in the Hatchet films before retiring from acting in 2011.

After the show

McNab was already a working child actor before Sunnydale, with roles in The Addams Family (1991) and as the camper Amanda Buckman in Addams Family Values (1993). She originally auditioned for the part of Buffy herself and instead landed Harmony Kendall, Cordelia’s sidekick, a role that grew over four years on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Harmony then crossed over to Angel, first as a one-off guest in season two and later as Angel’s vampire assistant at Wolfram & Hart, where McNab became a series regular midway through the fifth and final season in 2004.

After Angel ended, she turned to horror. In 2007 she played the lead role of Misty in the slasher film Hatchet, and USA Today featured her that spring among a new wave of horror leads. She reprised Misty in Hatchet II (2010). Between the two she starred in several direct-to-DVD genre films, including Dark Reel and Thirst, and appeared in the television movie Vipers (2008) alongside Tara Reid.

Her final screen role to date was Carla in the television film Glass Heels (2011), after which she stepped away from acting.

Lately

McNab has not taken on any acting work since 2011, and she has not announced a return. Her retirement has made her a regular subject of “where is she now” features, including a 2021 piece in the Express and earlier coverage from HorrorSociety.com, which note that she has not acted professionally since her marriage.

Off screen

McNab married real-estate developer Mark Henderson on May 12, 2012, in La Paz, Mexico, according to People. The couple have two children. In interviews over the years she has spoken warmly about her time playing Harmony on both shows, which remain her best-known work.
