Preachers are EVIL.– Dirty Girls: The Rant
Warning: Spoilerish to the amount of 10.
– Caleb is just plain evil. Examples: He’s a preacher. He has an affinity for automobile cigarette lighters. He has a southern accent. If that ain’t evil, I don’t know what is.
– Faith’s back in Sunnydale. I loved how they brought her in. We needed a little of that Faith charm in such a storyline of chaos.
– Xander’s dream. If you were a guy with a dozen teenage girls in your house, you’d have the same problems. I can relate.
– Faith and Spike’s first scene was great. Then it got more and more erotic as the scenes and lines went on. See, a Faith and Spike relationship makes more sense than Buffy and Spike. They’re more compatible. Too bad we only have 4 more episodes. That could’ve been interesting.
– “Are you the bad slayer? Am I the good slayer?” I cracked up. I loved Eliza’s voice going up an octave when she said “Am I the good slayer?” like she was already cracking under the pressure of being the good one and her mind had been the good one for a total of 2 seconds. Hillarious.
– So Caleb blew up the council? Maybe he isn’t such a bad guy afterall.
– Andrew’s montage. Classic. Volcanologist, vulcan…same thing pretty much.
– Wood fires Buffy. Well if he already knew she was the slayer with all that responsibility to begin with, why’d he hire her in the first place? Now that whole storyline about Buffy becoming a counselor seems like a complete waste of TV time.
– Faith and Spike in the basement. Ah, if only Eliza were around in Season 5 and 6, think of how it could’ve all been different by now. Great chemistry between the both of them.
– Another Buffy speech. Well, at least it was short.
– Her attitude towards Giles is ridiculous. I think someone needs a time-out.
– I liked the subtle banter between Faith and Buffy while on recon. They both didn’t want to cross any lines and say anything stupid. It’s the way a couple of old enemies would really be like if they had to work together. At least from what I can tell, it was done well.
– Xander’s speech to the troops was typical Xander. I’ve come to expect nothing less than truth and complete and utter greatness in his words. When they mention the heart of the gang, you can see why by this speech. Absolutely beautiful. I loved how Buffy heard it too.
– Why is Caleb so strong? Has the First Evil given him some sort of super powers? That’s the only explanation I can come up with.
– SiT deathcount in the fight: 2. Damn, just not enough. But at least Molly got it. We can all pray that Rona and Kennedy will get it next time.
– Here we come to the controversial M.E move: Poking THE WHITE KNIGHT’S LEFT FRIGGIN’ EYE OUT! I was pissed, I’ll admit it. It pissed me off to the highest level of piss-tivity. But it made sense. And for me, that’s a good enough reason. Anything that makes sense at this time (with only 4 episodes remaining) I’ll take. Was it unnecessary? Most likely, yes. But it made sense.
Final Verdict: I loved this episode. It made me think of the desperation of “Never Leave Me” and “Bring On The Night”. Two episodes that I loved as well. And when it’s not as fake a desperation (i.e – “Showtime”), it’s more interesting. Caleb is actually pretty friggin’ scary. I think he’s pretty good at being pretty evil. Maybe that’s just me. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to seeing the ramifications of Buffy’s actions in the next episode.
